Sale Prep

Well... we are just a few days short of having a for sale sign in our yard. I have to say that six months ago I was perfectly fine with this--happy and optimistic. Now I am just worried. The market has taken a HUGE downturn. Houses in our nieghborhood are just sitting on the market (and the one right next door is now for sale too!). I have to keep reminding myself that a lot of these houses are not as well kept as ours. We also have the blessing of living on a nice, quiet cul-de-sac where all the houses look good. There are no "eye sores" on our street. Prepping for sale is a lot more involved than I had planned too. We've boxed up about half of the kids toys, removed a lot of pictures and taken some small furniture out of the house. We have touch up paint to get done and then my house has to ALWAYS be clean. That is going to be a hard one with the dogs....I feel like the house is bare but it definately does look bigger. I just hope that all the effort is worth it. Say a little prayer for us, because this is our nest egg--the beginning of a new life in a new state, and in a new home.

Selling Houses

It seems like our luck has taken a turn. The housing market in our area had dropped dramatically in the past few months. Basically, there are 13 houses for sale in our neighborhood, and the one right next door just went up for sale on Monday. They have it priced about 25,000 dollars less than what we had hoped to get. So, I guess that is not good news for us. We had been so excited about this house being such a great investment for us and now we are feeling kind of concerned about it. I know we will still make a profit, but how much we don't know. Now there is the fear that it won't sell before we have to move. Our realtor says only 1 out of 5 houses sold in July. Those are not good numbers. Let's just hope the house is not sitting on the market for six months or longer!

On our way

Well, we are on our way to San Diego today. It's strange because I'm not used to waiting half the day before we leave. We don't have to go to the airport until 1:30 and it's only 9 am. So, I'm just trying to relax a bit and keep Jack from driving me nuts. He was up until almost 10 last night because he was so excited and up again at 545 am. It's going to be a LONG day if he doesn't take a little nap. We're all packed and ready to go. Mom just needs a shower and the kids need to be dressed, but it looks like I have plenty of time to get that done! We are very excited and I'm sure we'll have a ton of pictures to post when we get back. Talk to you all soon!
