Disney Overload

Who knew that planning a trip to Disney would be so involved? I'm glad that Veronica and Joel are Disney experts! We would have gone down there with no plan and just wandered. There is just so much to see, planning most things in advance seems the way to go. Then there are the family t-shirts to order, meal reservations, and dog sitting to plan for too. We've been so wrapped in finalizing plans for Disney in OCTOBER that we really haven't done much planning for our trip to Wisconsin in JULY (the 10th to be exact). Somehow, I imagine this trip to involve more relaxing and visiting than the amusement park atmosphere. We are very excited to see Jeff's family and Jeff asks me every day, "how many more days?" We have a list of what we are taking, maps from Chicago to Walmart Supercenter, to the Wilderness Resort. I think putting it all together will be the last step. I'm hoping the kids will be over their colds by then. Molly has her first bad one and she is not happy! We (actually I) are planning a Fourth of July BBQ for us and a couple of other families. I am going to be making my grandpa's famous Carne Asada and other mexican staples. The kids will be able to play in the pool while we all stuff ourselves with food and cold beer. Can't ask for much more than that can you? Well, actually you could ask to be spending the fourth with our families but our "family" here will do the trick.

Bugs, Bugs, Bugs!

Okay, it appears that Jack has some sort of allergy to a bug or something in the car (I'm guessing it's a bug!) We left the grocery store yesterday and by the time we got home (20 minutes) he had broken out in "hives" or bites or something all over his legs. It even looked like he had mosquito bites on the back of his ears???? I called the doctor and she said to give him benadryl since we don't know what caused it and if it got worse or he had trouble breathing, to take him to the ER. The benadryl did the trick BUT we just got back from the pool and AGAIN with the bumps. I gave him the benadryl again but is that wierd? We do have bad horseflies around here so maybe one bit him at the pool. OR, maybe my son is just prone to wierd stuff like his Daddy! HA! I'm going to do another check and make sure there are no spiders in the car. Otherwise, we had a great afternoon at the pool. Jack finally got the hang of it and was getting in and out on his own. Molly always loves the water--just like her Mama! Of course it was pretty HOT today so the cold water wasn't quite as shocking. Looks like we're ready for our vacation!

Movie

They have a neat deal here at Regal Cinemas where you can see a free kids movie on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings. I decided to try it out because I really want to take Jack to see Madagascar but I'm not sure how he would do. We tried the free one first (Sharktale). He actually did pretty good. He got a little restless in the middle of the movie but settled back down with some teddy grahams. Molly even fell asleep which did surprise me. The good thing is that the theatre was FULL of little kids and mine were very LOW on the noise scale compared to everyone else. It was nice to not have to worry about it. I think we'll be brave and try the new release after all. We'll just get a BIG bucket of popcorn!

Ears

Well, I got Molly's ears pierced today. I almost cried but honestly, she didn't react any worse than getting her shots. I think she looks adorable. Jeff was mad at me but that's why I didn't tell him I was doing it. The kids and I had a decent trip to the mall (for once). I bought a bathing suit and for the first time in years I bought a size 12. Doesn't sound too small to most but that was major for me. Only a few people will uderstand that. I also tried out a new starbucks drink and I have to recommend the mint mocha chip frap. MMMMMmmmmm GOOD! Jack got a new pair of "Dash" PJs and he looks so cute in them. I think we'll have to dress the family as the Incredibles for Halloween this year. That would be fun! Well, Jeff and I have Hitch to watch today so I better go settle in.....

The "what?" virus

That's right, our house is under quarantine. Not really, but Jack has been diagnosed with the Coxsackie virus! Otherwise known as "hand, foot, and mouth" disease. Don't mistake if for foot and mouth! He's not a cow! That doesn't change the fact that it sounds gross. What it really is is blisters in the throat and you can get blisters on your feet and hands too. It started out as the high fever and when I took him in, they found the blisters in his throat. He doesn't have any on his feet or hands yet. Poor little guy. I was told it was very common in the fall and spring. Anywhooo....I guess he picked it up at the gym daycare or something. I don't "know" of anyone who has it so who knows where it came from. We're trying to keep it from Molly but I'm not sure it's possible. Before he spiked the fever, she was eating pudding off of his spoon! I guess I can look forward to them both getting it. That means I'm stuck at home for a week or maybe two because I'm not going to expose any other kids to this. I will just have to get my exercise by walk/jogging which I did this morning. Boy was it HOT! The dogs are still recovering. Well, I'm off to do ab-work with my exercise ball and then back to putting my kitchen back together! It looks GREAT!

Kitchen!

I feel like I have really accomplished something this weekend. My kitchen is almost done. All the big stuff is complete. I have painted the walls and redone the cabinets. Yesterday I added a tile backsplash on all the walls above my sink. All that is left is to grout and decorate (OH, I can't forget that Jeff also put in an above range microwave!)! It looks really good, and I am really surprised. I didn't think that was something I could do on my own but I'm pretty happy about it. Now I just have to find all the "perfect" things to decorate with and I'll be done. The only bad thing is that I got a piece of tile stuck in my eye! I went to the ER to have it taken out and after sitting there for over an hour it worked itself out. Thank goodness. It had been there all night and I was worried I might have damaged my eye. All is good now though! It's a hot one today and I have a softball game at 5:30. Jack is running a 102.5 fever but we don't know why. He isn't really acting sick, just tired. If he's still that way tomorrow, I'll take him in. Busy, busy. It's constant motion around here!

Every day a challenge

It seems like it gets harder and harder to get out the door these days. Mostly because Jack is a challenge at times. When we are trying to leave the house it is like a game to him. I put the milk/snack in the bag, he takes it out, shoes on/shoes off, Door open/door shut. It goes on and on. I try hard to not get frustrated but that is a challenge. Jeff and I were watching Bill Cosby last night and laughing our heads off. It's a totally different story when you actually have kids. It's sad, but true. God did make kids cute for a reason.....

My first blog

Okay, I'm going to try this blogging thing. I've seen it done and read a lot of them but I thought it would be fun to share some everyday stuff going on around here. I can keep track better this way and I don't have to remember all the anicdotal stories at the end of the month when I update our site. Plus, it will give me a place to "journal" my daily challenges or successes. It should be interesting!
