Sadness

I am a little overwhelmed with sadness today. Hurricane Katrina has ruined my mood. When the coverage first started and I saw all the people trapped I couldn't help but think "why the heck didn't they leave when they were supposed to?" Then I really thought about it and remembered how many times I didn't head the tornado "take shelter now" warnings. You always think they are exaggerating. Obviously this time they weren't. Should they have left......yes. Would I have left.....I don't know. I guess you never know unless you are there. I do know that when I see people walking chest deep in polluted water, carrying a newborn baby, my knees buckle. I really cannot imagine. I hope and pray that they can overcome this......

Part time

I started a part time job on Monday at the gym where I workout. It will only be about eleven hours a week and I can bring my kids with me. That is the only way I'd go back to work right now. I figured I could give up 11 hours a week for some extra "play" money and a free gym membership. The kids get to play and stay with me so they are happy. There really isn't much to working in the daycare center. I don't even have to change diapers. Just supervise and be silly. I do that all day anyway so I might as well get paid for it. I've had to alter my workout schedule though, which means I get up at 530 on Tuesday and Thursday to get in an early workout before the kids get up. That way I don't have to drag them to the gym with me everyday of the week. The Borgerding's (friends from San Antonio) just moved up here last week and it is nice to have some people around that we've known for a while. The kids seem to all get along great so it will be great having them here. It gives jeff someone to "play" with......

Jack had his two year check up today and he's doing great. 24.4 pounds and 33 inches tall. He's low on the weight scale, average on height and above average on developement. So, I think he'll be just fine. He's getting really good at the potty. Finally starting to notice when he has to go. We only used two pull-ups today. Let's hope we have the same results tomorrow.

Molly's newest feat is clapping and saying BYEEEEEEE to everyone. She is quite funny. Especially when she does it with a huge grin on her face. She really does look just like Abbey and Jack is looking more and more like Little Chico and Aidan. It's really strange!!

My baby is TWO!

I never thought I'd be a parent who went "ho-hum" at my child's milestones. Alas, I am. I didn't cry but I did have several moments when I was watching and listening to Jack talk that I thought " I cannot believe my baby boy is two already." I feel like he was just born a week ago. It's all a part of life and trust me, I know that I'll say that about a million more times during his life. We did have a great party. I think everyone had fun. Even the dogs enjoyed eating all the cake out from under the table. Which is good, since we have carpet in the dining room. The pinata was a hit and Jack was awed by everything he got. Being as he only had one short nap today, I was very proud of him for sharing his new toys (with everyone except Molly) and having a pretty good attitude. I love birthday parties......

So little time to post....

Well, we have a new hardrive my my heart is sick that it doesn't contain all of my pictures. After about a million phone calls and two companies saying they would pay to recover the data (Dell and USAA), we are down to just us. No one will pay, the estimate is 2400 and only about 30% chance of recovery. We decided that we couldn't tell Molly her first year wasn't worth $2400 so we are going to send it off and try to get the pictures back. It sounds silly, but say a prayer that it works. I will be devastated if I lose the past eight months of pictures. I know it's our fault for not backing up but still......On to better things!

I can't believe Jack is going to be TWO on Sunday. We have a small party planned with The Incredibles them. I think it will be fun. I went as far as making a 'city' out of boxes with all the characters. It looks pretty neat. In the meantime, Jack has been talking up a storm, peeing on the potty, and just acting so grown up I can hardly stand it. I think we will hit potty training full force when we run out of pampers (maybe another month). For now, we are just 'practicing' peeing on the potty and we have to read Green Eggs and Ham EVERY time! I know it by heart.

Molly is all over the place. Climbing stairs, pulling up and walking around everything. She says "bye bye" already, plays "so big," and waves to people. Not to mention saying "da, dah" everytime she catches a glimpse of Jeff. It is so cute. I think she'll be an early talker.

We went to Sesame Place today in Pennysylvania and I'm sorry to report that if it hadn't been free, we wouldn't have spent the money to go. It was a little disappointing, but the kids did love the Elmo's World show and some of the slides and stuff. We never made it to the water park because there were actually lines to get it and they set timers.....who's going to wait in bathing suits and swim diapers if the kids are going to throw a fit when you make them leave? Anyhow, it started raining so we left. In the park at 10:50 and out by 1:30, that should tell you a lot.....

That's about all for now. I will be updating the site after Jack's party--I guess we got the computer going just in time.

Anyone read this?

Does anyone read this thing? Just kidding. Jeff was giving me a hard time, "does anyone actually read that?" Well, it really doesn't matter. I do it for other reasons that that. I'm kind of behind on it so I'll catch you up. Molly is finally over her ear infection and both kids seem to be "de-sickied." For now anyway. Molly has learned to wave and Jack peed on the potty twice last week. He's not consistent at all but were in the "getting used to the idea" mode. He also learned how to use the floaties at the BIG pool. He was so funny! He was just hanging there dead weight going "swimming, swimming." He wasn't scared at all and he kept his head up so that was huge for him. Our computer still isn't fixed and Dell is certainly going to hear about it if it ever does get that way. Jeff is tempted to call and ask for our money back and just keep the hard drive in hopes of saving our pictures. It's just plain frustrating for me. I just try not to think about it and stick with the laptop for now. I'm pretty sure that Jeff's former unit got home from Iraq on Friday night. Jeff is looking for comfirmation at work today. We don't want to bother anyone who just got home. We are just so glad that despite the tragedy early in their tour, the rest of the unit came home safe and uninjured. Thanks for all your prayers. Finally, we are discussing the possibility of driving back to Missouri for Xmas this year. It's still in the "maybe" phase since it is such a long drive and we have already traveled so much in the last year. We are trying to figure out a way to work it so that it's possible without losing our sanity. Think, driving through the night while the kids are asleep. We'll see how the next few months go before we make a final decision....maybe we'll see you then.

I've got the hurts!

Well, my softball game was NOT cancelled and I ended up hurting myself the very first time I was up to bat! I did hit a double but in the process of trying to run I pulled my quardricep. Needless to say, after eight more innings and lots of action in the outfield, I am not feeling so hot today. The good part is that we did win, knocking one of the best teams out of the tournament. So, even though it is going to be really hot next week, we'll have another game! Should be interesting. Molly and Jack both woke up better today and are actually napping. I don't even hear coughing. I don't care what anyone says HOT steamers are better for the croup than cold. I'm assuming it's just a child safety reason that they do that but with Jack in his crib, I feel safe putting it out. Not long after his room filled with steam, the coughing stopped and we were all able to get some sleep. Thank goodness! Of course it was almost 1am by then but we'll know better next time. I'm sure we'll get plenty of opportunities to test this theory!!!
