Germs!

Oh, how I am starting to HATE germs. Jack and Molly both came down with colds about ten days ago. Molly's developed into an ear infection that has led us to urgent care once and regular doctor too. She's had to have her antibiotic changed because she still has it. I thought Jack was over his cold (or he was and just caught another virus) but yesterday he starting coughing like a mad man and after listening to him all night, we have decided he has the croup once again. Now, I am wondering if he didn't pick that up in the pediatricians office while we were getting Molly looked at. I really should have washed his hands. Anyhow, I am sick of the sickies in my house. It seems to never end.

On an up note, Jeff and I did get a few hours out by ourselves last night. Ahhhh, it was heaven. We actually got reprimanded for not staying out later. We love our neighbores Gene and Joann. They are surrogate parents/grandparents to us and it makes us feel that we are not so far from people who love us. We even did pretty well and didn't talk about the kids that much. We still found things to talk about--amazing isn't it?

I find myself actually hoping that my softball game is cancelled today. I'm so tired from lack of sleep (due to coughing) and just simply want to stay home. Looks like rain so we'll see what happens.

Backup!!!

Jeff backed up our computer programs a while back when we set up our new computer. Molly was probably 3 months old or so. We can't find the disk, and you guessed it, our computer is DEAD! We woke up to the blue screen of death yesterday. We still have our laptop but I am FREAKING out about possibly losing all of our pictures. The only backup CD Jeff can find is one from November 2004, which means we would only have one month of molly's pictures. That will be fun to explain to her when she is older. Sorry you weren't documented honey, Mommy and Daddy were STUPID! So, a reminder to you out there who use your computer for important stuff--back up your system every day! Also, anyone reading this needs to email me your email address or addresses because I lost all of those too. Oh, the only upside is that Dell is going to completely replace our hard drive and are also going to try and recover our lost files. I really hope that it works.......

Potter....

I have a bit of Harry Potter guilt going on. Jeff bought me the new book on Thursday night and I had finished it by Saturday night. I spent all nap times reading and read after the kids went to bed. I don't remember the last time I have just sat down and really did "nothing" during nap time. I kind of enjoyed it but the busier side of me feels like I should have been doing something more productive.....I guess it was worth it. The book was great but I didn't care for the ending too much. No hints! Just if you read it, don't peek to the back. My softball season officially ended today and Molly and Jack are sick. Molly had to go to urgent care for an ear infection. Fortunately, Jack's is just a cold. I hope the girl isn't cursed with ear problems like I had.

WHEW!!!!

We are home from our trip to Wisconsin Dells. We've actually been home since late Friday night, but we are STILL recovering. I made my return to the gym yesterday and decided (despite the exercise I did while there) that it was a magnificently painful process. Though we did enjoy our trip, we have decided that the family vacation thing was a lot more fun when we didn't have our own family. After all, we could stay up till all hours playing games and consuming whatever we wished. All the while knowing we could sleep it off in the morning. I'm sure vacations will improve as our children get older. We hope so at least. For this trip, Jack decided to be wide awake by 0530 every morning, only take one nap a day (if that...), and wake his sister up too when he didn't want to sleep. He did eat quite well while we there though. We are trying to figure out if it is because he liked the booster seat Grandpa Bob made him or he just played so darn hard that he had to refuel. All in all it was a good trip (if you don't count the nightmare on the way home..). We always enjoy seeing the family, hearing stories, and playing games with everyone. Cranium is our new favorite! Since we also only see Jeff's cousins once a year, it is always interesting to see how they have changed/matured. Steph and Alex must have grown over a foot each. Steph spent a lot of time talking to her boyfriend which was wierd and Alex's voice has changed. Morgan brought her boyfriend who she is headed off to college with in the fall, and she brought her own car (that also seemed wierd to us). Samantha will probably outgrow me by next summer. She's too big to sit on my lap and let me rub her back now, but she sure did good keeping Jack entertained. Last year, everyone was trying to coax jack to walk and this year, I think there were times they wished he would just sit still for five minutes. He is definately all boy. Everyone took a turn with Molly (or tried too anyway) and we are really grateful for all the extra bodies to entertain our "youngins" for a while. We look forward to next year!

Black eyes, crawling, and vacation

We've had a big week and it's only going to get more exciting as we head off for vacation on Sunday. Jack took a nasty fall that landed his upper cheekbone on the corner of the coffee table. He has the worst shiner I've seen on a kid his size. As quickly as it swelled and turned purple, I considered the idea of his bone being broken. I put ice on it (as well as I could with a wiggly two year old) and decided it wasn't broken but he does look like he took a hard left hook. I keep telling him if he doesn't behave I'll black his other eye. Good thing he doesn't really know what this means:) Molly is crawling now. She doesn't go more than a couple of feet but she'll only get further each day. I've also found her sitting up in the crib when she wakes up so that means she can get to sitting on her own too! I guess the baby gates will have to come back out. We also lived through another tooth this week(teething for Molly is a MAJOR drama). Her little smile was so cute with that one pearly white sticking up but I'm sure it will be even cuter now. I've got the kids packed for our trip so all that is left is to get the dogs room ready and throw Jeff's and my clothes in a suitcase. I can't believe we will make the trip with only two suitcases! Good thing it is summer. We are very excited and can't wait for the break!

Fourth of July

Happy Independence day to all! We had a great day, but it was a lot of work. We had a few friends and nieghbors over for a BBQ and homemade ice cream (all the food was GREAT!). Jack was a bit protective of his toys at first but by the end of the day he was sharing very well with his friends Zachary and Ciara. Surprisingly, with only one nap Jack was still up at ten o'clock which meant he got to do a few things he's never done! We caught fireflies in a jar which he was amazed by and he also got to see his first fireworks set off by our nieghbor. He was so funny saying "woooow" and "boooooom." I'd like to say Molly had a fun day too but she was either teething or stressed by all the people in the house. She did eat her first refried beans (she loved them) and got to have some homemade straweberry ice cream (also a favorite!). Jeff and I ended the very hot and sticky day by cleaning up the yard and doing two loads of dishes! Having kids certainly does change the whole "party" thing. We were so busy keeping track of them and hosting that we really didn't get to relax too much! I suppose it will get easier as they get older....at least I hope so!
